Easy lasagna

I just love the fact that I don't have to cook the noodles to perfection for this lasagna!

1 ½ lbs. hamburger
1 medium onion, chopped
1 ½ cup water
1 (28 oz.) bottle spaghetti sauce
1 Tbs. brown sugar

1 ½ cups Mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 pint cottage cheese
½ cup parmesan cheese, shredded

1 box lasagna noodles, uncooked

In a large skillet, brown hamburger and onion. Also season with salt and pepper to taste.

Add water,  spaghetti sauce and brown sugar to meat.
(I didn't have store bought spaghetti sauce on hand so I used the spaghetti sauce recipe from the October archives  http://nrappleye.blogspot.com/2011/09/spaghetti-sauce.html  Omitting the ground beef, ending up with just sauce.  it's the perfect amount called for in this lasagna recipe.)

You can leave the brown sugar out if you are using the home made sauce because it already has it in it.

Stir to blend well.  Turn heat down to low and let simmer while you mix the cheeses together.

Mix cheeses together in a bowl and set aside.

In a 9x13 baking dish,  layer in this order,
meat mixture,

then uncooked noodles,

meat mixture

cheese mixture next.

Repeat layering steps, so you have 2-3 layers of
uncooked noodles.  Don't worry if the noodles are broken, just throw them on, no one will ever know!

Cheese

Cover with foil and bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour or
until noodles are soft.

As all good tomato base foods go, this will yummy tonight but  even better tomorrow!
