Hummus

I was craving  some hummus the other night and thought I would try a different recipe so I found one on Pinterest that was different and had some interesting ingredients.....NOT GOOD!....Next, I went right to my recipe file and got my favorite hummus recipe out. It has simple ingredients that blend together for a fresh taste.

I don't know what it is about this strange bean paste
but I can eat it till I'm sick!

I did something different this time, something I have been thinking to do for a long time and I love it as much as the original way.  I love the mellow nutty flavor of roasted garlic, so, I roasted some up and put it in, in place of the fresh garlic.  I was right in my thinking that it would add a new dimension of flavor.  So you have a choice and both are good choices, to put fresh or
roasted garlic in your hummus.
You can serve this as an appetizer or a lite meal with
flat bread and vegetables.

1 (15 oz.) can Garbanzo beans (Chick peas), drained and rinsed
2 cloves garlic (fresh or roasted)
1/4 cup Tahini
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 Tablespoon Olive oil
1 teaspoon Kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon Cayenne pepper (Cumin for a different flavor)

drain and rinse the garbanzo beans

Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor.

Garlic...
I am using roasted garlic this time
(how to roast garlic http://nrappleye.blogspot.com/2013/06/roasted-garlic.html) but if you like fresh garlic then you can add 2 cloves.
I love the roasted garlic so
I am putting in 4, well, I really added the whole bulb! And I think the next time I roast my garlic for this recipe
I will add enough oil to put in the hummus

Tahini is roasted sesame seed paste

Lemon Juice.  You can use fresh or bottled

Oil

Salt

Cayenne Pepper or cumin

blend until smooth.

Serve with vegetables and or flat bread.
